The Assiniboine Theatre Company was founded in 2015 as a non-profit corporation to:
- Share in providing the community with a year-round schedule of live theatre produced to serve the cultural, educational and entertainment needs of the community.
- To welcome and provide a vocational opportunity for all volunteers interested in the theatre arts to participate in the many activities of community theatre.
Before it’s foundation, a group of like-minded friends invested their own money to put David Mamet’s Pulitzer prize winning play, Glengarry Glen Ross on the Westman stage. Thankfully, the production created some revenue to start the company. Since that time, the membership has grown to over 40 members and welcome anyone who is interested in the dramatic arts to join.
ATC has produced two productions for Samaritan House Ministries’ fundraising galas (Love Letters, Graceland), has been hired for local events (Gossip in the Graveyard, BDO Christmas party) and recently closed their first full stage production of the Canadian classic play Zastrozzi; The Master of Discipline by George F. Walker.
They are currently planning their 2018/19 season.
